damage claims; surety bond claims; cargo release and delivery disputes; governmental investigations of tariff filing and other carrier and freight forwarder activities;
counsel to shipyards and other maritime entities before federal agencies; advice on the transportation of hazardous materials; state and federal regulatory
compliance for shippers, forwarders, and carriers; charter agreements; and other admiralty-related matters. We also provide training and seminars to clients and
their insureds on proper shipping documentation, invoices, limitation of liability clauses, forum selection clauses, and other protections designed to minimize liability and claims.
Our attorneys regularly represent clients before the Federal Maritime Commission, the Surface Transportation Board (formerly the Interstate Commerce Commission), the United States Department of
Transportation, the United States Federal District Courts and Courts of Appeals, and State courts. We also represent clients before those governmental agencies
with jurisdiction over international and domestic transportation-related activities. Our affiliated international and local counsel assist our firm and
clients in all matters dealing with international transportation and maritime matters, arbitration and litigation, CMR issues, and other issues relating to
transportation by air, ocean, rail and truck.
Our firm has represented transportation surety bond and insurance companies, air and ocean freight forwarders, ocean carriers, NVOCCs,
and other transportation intermediaries in litigation matters involving loss and damage to cargo, improper release, conversion, misdelivery, delay, freight collection,
missing cargo, errors and omissions, and transit liability defense work litigation. Our firm also emphasizes reviewing and evaluating fraudulent claims against
freight forwarders, NVOCCs, and surety bond and air and marine insurance companies.
