The Customs and International Trade Practice Group is composed of accomplished lawyers and Licensed Customs Brokers who deal with all aspects of the laws and regulations governing U.S. foreign commerce.

We work closely with all governmental agencies involved in international trade, including the U.S. Customs Service, Departments of Commerce and State, Food & Drug Administration, International Trade Commission, and U.S. Trade Representative. We regularly practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and State and other Federal Courts. The firm provides legal counseling to a variety of companies in the international trade community, including importers, exporters, customs brokers, sureties, insurance companies, freight forwarders, and transportation companies. The diversity of our client base provides us with the broad perspective necessary to analyze and develop creative solutions for problems and issues affecting our clients. We actively assist our clients in designing and implementing compliance systems that reduce errors and enable them to recognize potential problem areas at the earliest possible time so that they can be solved efficiently and effectively. We also help our clients recognize opportunities for minimizing or avoiding duties and taxes, or simply finding better ways of doing things.

Our Customs practitioners regularly deal with matters involving tariff classification, Customs valuation, NAFTA, Customs penalties and liquidated damages, design and implementation of compliance programs for importers, brokers and others, Customs audits, country of origin marking, foreign trade zones, quotas and visas, defense of sureties and errors and omissions claims, broker problems, copyright and trademark issues, and issues arising with other government agencies.

The Firm’s International Trade Law practitioners regularly deal with antidumping and countervailing duty matters, trade actions taken under Sections 201 and 301, representations to the U.S. Trade Representative in WTO, bilateral trade negotiations, and special trade programs such as NAFTA and GSP, and export licensing matters, including munitions.
