Michael A. Johnson concentrates his practice on Customs and International Trade Law. Mr. Johnson received both a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in 1970 and a Master of Arts degree in 1972 from Yale University, and his Juris Doctor degree from Columbia University in 1976. Mr. Johnson was admitted to the New York Bar and the United States Court of International Trade in 1977; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in 1978; the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1983; and the Illinois State Bar in 1989.

He is member of the Illinois State, Chicago, New York, and American Bar Associations, and the Customs & International Trade Bar Association. Mr. Johnson practices Customs and International Trade Law focusing on all aspects of the import and export process including, but not limited to, tariff classification and valuation of imported merchandise, country of origin determinations, marking, comprehensive import, export and NAFTA compliance programs, defense of sureties, broker/forwarder compliance, intellectual property protection, quota/visa issues, and drawback.
